Phantom Wasteland is the primary world area for a Seeker's Rest story on N'Erud. Defeating the area's mini boss grants access to your second Seeker's Key. Once you have all three of them, Phantom Wasteland is where you'll need to return to complete your quest on N'Erud.

Ascension Spire

At Seeker's Rest, the floating, octopod robot directed you to find him in his tower, the one with "a glowing white orb held aloft to the heavens." It was talking about the Ascension Spire, and this is what you're looking for:

The Ascension Spire

Just outside the tower entrance is the Ascension Spire World Stone. Inside is a large room where you'll find a humanoid standing in front of a relief depicting several, strange creatures. This is the Custodian:

The Custodian

If you speak with him, he introduces himself and gives you your task, "Find the Core and shut it down." This is your quest for the Seeker's Rest story. Note that you don't have to speak to the Custodian to complete the quest, but he does give you some interesting story information.

When you're done speaking with the Custodian, turn around and head back outside. As you approach the entrance, look to your right to see a short, concealed path that ends at an opening in the floor:

The concealed path

Drop down through the hole in the floor to find the Drzyr Replicator:

Drzyr Replicator

There is a Drzyr audio log near the base of the Drzyr Replicator. Listen to it if you like, then notice the two elevators on either side.

The elevator to the right of the Drzyr Replicator leads down into a vault. Directly ahead of you is a shield generator that hums with purple energy. Before you go there, drop off the ledge to the right of the walkway and follow the path to a pedestal where you'll find the Escalation Circuit:

Take the Escalation Circuit to McCabe.

Backtrack to the walkway and approach the energized pedestal. Notice that there are one or two pins inserted into the device and an energy shield blocking the passage beyond:

Decorum Cipher and Memory Core II go here.

If you have the Decorum Cipher and/or Memory Core II, insert them into the unused receptacles to drop the shields in the passage beyond. Behind the first shield you'll find the Core Booster amulet. Behind the second shield is the Pulse Rifle long gun.

If you only have the Decorum Cipher or Memory Core II but not both, it's OK. You'll just drop one shield and get the Core Booster. Come back later (maybe in another roll) with the both keys to drop the second shield and collect the Pulse Rifle.

Head back to the elevator and ride it back up. The elevator to the left of the Drzyr Replicator is your exit and takes you up to a plateau outside next to the entrance to the Ascension Spire.

Seeker's Key

Completing the Seeker's Rest story quest requires three Seeker's Keys. You found the first when you entered N'Erud at Seeker's Rest.

The second is somewhere in the Phantom Wasteland. Its exact location is random, but it is always in a Seated Colossus just like the one you found at Seeker's Rest:

Seated colossus

This is always just past the exit from the Phantom Wasteland mini boss fight.

The Core Tower

The Core Tower is by far the tallest spire on the surface of N'Erud, and it is inside that you face Sha'Hala to complete the Seeker's Rest Story. This is also the location of the Threshold of the Unknown World Stone.

The Core Tower

The first thing you notice when you get to the Core Tower is...it's locked. To unlock the massive door, you'll need to place three Seeker's Keys in the nearby pedestal:

Place the Seeker's Keys into the pedestal on the right.

After the door opens, step through the yellow curtain. This is your exit from Phantom Wasteland and into the Sentinel's Keep, where you'll face Sha'Hala to finish the Seeker's Rest story.
