Ward 13 is the name of the hamlet that's grown up outside of the underground facility at which Commander Ford's small group of survivors made their stand before the Dreamer's destruction. Now, it has moved outside and grown, but Ward 13 still serves as a place of respite in a world still reeling from the enemy's ruthless dominance.

The Garden

There is a garden just to the right of Ward 13's main gate. If you take a look around, you might notice an empty plot with a shovel and spading fork sticking out of the loosened dirt:

Once you obtain the Thaen Seed, plant it in this bed. Ward 13's resident gardener will tend this bed and, after the passage of some real-world time, you'll have grown your very own Thaen Tree. The tree produces a nice supply of very handy items. Most of these regrow after you pick them, so keep checking back after each harvest.

Next, the tree begins producing Thaen Fruit. You can harvest this fruit at any of three stages of maturity. Only one fruit grows at a time, so if you want a more mature version you'll have to wait for it to develop. Once you pick a fruit, the growth cycle starts over. Thaen Fruit at each stage is its own item:

• Mature Thaen Fruit
• Elder Thaen Fruit
• Celestial Thaen Fruit

Eventually, if you harvest Celestial Thaen Fruit several times, the tree produces the Ripened Heart relic instead of another fruit. Once you harvest this, the tree returns to its regular cycle of growing Thaen Fruit.
