N'Erud is not a world, but an immense starship on a generations-long journey to Alepsis-Taura, which the Drzyr regarded as their promised land. Unfortunately, disaster struck during the journey and the Drzyr are now either dead or...undead. Strange, symbiotic arthropods and gastropods invaded N'Erud and exterminated the crew, leaving behind no one to monitor the stasis chambers that preserved the Drzyr on their quest through the stars.

Some of the Drzyr have emerged from their pods, but they are corrupted, fetid creatures that can most easily be described as zombies. It is these poor creatures and the invasive alien species who now comprise most of the N'Erudian population.
