The Forgotten Kingdom DLC
Give to McCabe at Ward 13 to craft the Thorn long gun.
Obtained by leaving the Kuri Kuri Egg in its nest, undisturbed, in the Ancient Canopy on Yaesha (i.e., do NOT take it). Return later to find a Kuri Kuri bird, which promptly hacks up the Regurgitated Spiny Sac as you approach it.
Lore
It looks like a regurgitated piece of deadwood. Probably because that's what it is. Those thorns couldn't have felt too good in that giant bird's stomach. In any case, there must be some practical use for something so sturdy and nasty.
